LatitudeLearning Tools
Single Sign On is an integrated authentication method of managing individuals in LatitudeLearning. With this method, a user who is already authenticated in a native network or CRM makes a request to access LatitudeLearning and only gains access after both systems conduct a secure hand-shake consisting of credentials and secure session keys.
Here is the Single Sign On process:
From their native environment the customer makes a request to log into LatitudeLearning.
LatitudeLearning generates a unique session key.
LatitudeLearning redirects customer back to their Single Sign-On page. Packet sent with redirect includes session key, which includes 36 byte unique identifier (generated in previous step).
At their native environment the customer has the option to log in, if they have not authenticated yet.
If the authentication is successful the customer is redirected back to LatitudeLearning with encrypted authentication data, including encrypted session key, username, first name, last name, email, and location code (optional).
LatitudeLearning decrypts the authentication data and either logs customer into the LMS or optionally has the ability to create a new user record if they do not already exist.
The advantages of Single Sign On include the following:
LMS Administrators will no longer be required to unlock a user account or perform password reset issues. Because authentication takes place between the user’s authentication in native CRM and LatitudeLearning, passwords are not required for secure LMS access.
Authentication is secure and guaranteed. As long as the user is authenticated in their native CRM, secure tokens will be passed between the native system and LatitudeLearning. The user will gain access to their training materials without needing to log in to two different systems.
With the option of creating new users, the LMS Administrator is relieved from user creation and maintenance. With this option the cost of running the LMS goes down since the LMS Administrator has to be involved in the LMS administration.
There will be consistent record maintenance between the native CRM or HRIS system and LatitudeLearning user records. With consistent key field identifiers, such as username, location, and position set up between LatitudeLearning and the native CRM or HRIS system, record maintenance will be accurate and low cost.
Integrated Authentication is an ideal solution with numerous benefits, but perhaps the biggest benefit is that users operate with one login name and one login password. This makes it easier for them to gain access and complete required training.
