The Latitude Learning Team announces the latest release of the Latitude Learning LMS. This release Version (3.0.0.70962) was promoted to production on Sunday, July 24, 2016.
ENHANCEMENTS
Two Factor Authentication (2FA): Full Release
Latitude has rolled out final updates to this product enhancement. LMS Portal Administrators can now enable and disable “Two Factor Authentication” functionality for their portal from the Site Management => LMS Information page.
NOTE: When 2FA is enabled, all registered users will be required to select and answer two Security Questions upon next login to the system. Once they have logged answers to selected questions, the user will experience normal LMS login behavior.

Automate Interests From Goals: Full Release
Background
The Latitude Learning LMS has a powerful certification engine which can automatically assign learning goals/plans to users based on their position code, previously completed certifications (defining which new learning plans should be assigned to users who have already been certified) and previously completed courses (i.e. the availability of course updates).
Although the LMS can auto-assign goals to students, those users still need to open their home page Goal, Certification, or Curriculum tabs and manually enroll in the required coursework. A number of clients have expressed a desire to have the LMS do more than calculate and assign the goals; they want the LMS to automatically enroll the students in the courses included in the learning plan / certification goal.
Resolution
The Automate Interest List from Goals enhancement allows students to rely on the LMS to facilitate enrollment in their required courses to achieve certification goals.
Once a “Simple Certification” has been configured, a Portal Administrator can open the Site Management => LMS Information page and enable/disable the Automate Interest List from Goals feature. When enabled, the system will automatically add course interest records for all users assigned a certification goal. Our interest list processor will then identify those students who are eligible for course enrollment (i.e. meet prerequisites and do not require manager approval) and enroll them accordingly.
IMPORTANT: A “Simple Certification” has been defined by the following criteria:
- Generic Rules must be Evaluation Type: Completion
- None of the contained Generic Rules are marked as “Not”
- Primary Rules use Operator: All Of
Browse Courses by Topic: Partial Release
Background
To date, the LMS has not provided student users a “default view” of their course catalog; that is, there is no default list of all courses which automatically populates on user’s home page. To view available courses, a user must execute a search. There are two primary means of searching:
- Entering a keyword in the Course Search field in the header area (which appears on every LMS page).
- Using filters on the "Search Courses" page. To access this page, a student can click on the Advanced Search link found directly under Course Search field, or from the left navigation menu by clicking Courses => Search Courses.
Solution
Latitude has released part one of a two-part enhancement to LMS Course Catalog search options. The new Browse Courses by Topic feature allows Portal Administrators to create a list of course topics/categories, and even define hierarchical relationships between educational subjects.
Then assign one or more Topics to each course to provide LMS users a browsable catalog menu.
- Available Now: Create training topics by clicking Course Support => Add Topics. Edit existing records and manage their taxonomic relationships under Search Topics.
- Still to Come: Browse Courses by Topic menu item.
RESOLVED ISSUES
Quick Profile Update – Updated this feature to cascade deactivation dates on old Profiles to associated Position and Role assignments. Now, once a user’s new Organization Profile is created and all prior Profiles deactivated, all previous positions and roles will show matching End Dates.
View User Home Page – An LMS user with a managerial oversight of others can open the “Employees” tab to see a list of Location Employees, All Direct Reports, etc. Clicking a linked employee Name from these lists allows the manager to see selected user’s Home page. Latitude Support has added the "Return to My Employees" link to all views, so that removing user impersonation is a one-click process.
