The built-in User Search can be used by LMS Administrators, Instructors, or Administrators to create a query of course, certification, or curriculum progress. With a few simple clicks, a dynamic population of students can be created that match the type of training you want to review.

Situations that can be created include the following:

  • As an Administrator, I want to determine which students in my division are enrolled in a course. I should set up the User Search to query two sets of criteria:
  • Organization (In Hierarchy) with search value of the division name AND
  • Course, Is Enrolled and the search value of the course name
  • I will receive results that are the population of students who fulfill both criteria.

  • As an Instructor, I want to determine which students in my location have passed a course. I should set up the User Search to query two sets of criteria:
  • Organization (In Exact Organization) with search value of my location AND
  • Valid Transcript, Passed and the search value of course name
  • I will receive results that are the population of students who fulfill both criteria.

  • As an LMS Administrator, I want to find out which students in the Domestic US business unit are enrolled but have not achieved the Safety First Certification. I should set up the User Search to query three sets of criteria:
  • Organization (In Hierarchy) with search value of the company AND
  • Assigned but Not Achieved with the search value of the Certification name AND
  • Role is equal to Student
  • I will receive results that are the population of students who fulfill all three criteria. The screenshot below portrays this situation. The three search criteria are selected and create the Search Pattern shown at the bottom of the screenshot. Other Search Patterns can be created with a combination of "OR" as well as "AND". With this flexibility, a search can be created for a wide range of search criteria. After clicking search, the Administrator will see the users who fit the criteria below the Search Pattern.

These are just some of the ways the User Search can be leveraged as a helpful way to check on training for a portion, or all, of your organization.
