enhancements
Chrome 80 - SCORM Player Update: To improve browser performance when navigating between pages, the Google Chrome team has removed the ability of scripts to perform synchronous requests during the beforeunload and unload events of a page. Many LMSs use this method to record learner interactions that happen in the final seconds before closing an eLearning course in their browser. Google implemented this change in Chrome Version 80, which was released on February 4, 2020.
The Chrome 80 changes may impact how user progress is tracked for SCORM eLearning courses after they close the course tab or course window. While running detailed tests to analyze this potential issue, we learned that there is a built-in 2 second delay which prevents this from being a problem for most LMS courses in the best network conditions. To be proactive, however, we made updates to the LMS that should further prevent issues in the future. Because Chrome 80 has been in release for over one week, most course progress issues are likely to have surfaced by now. If users encounter unusual errors launching or completing particular courses that cannot be explained by other common LMS- or course content-related causes, please email Latitude ClientCare at Support@LatitudeLearning.com, providing a detailed description of the issue, the details of any error messages, and the course codes/usernames involved so that our team can investigate.
