We've modified the Self-Study course type so that students can self-report completion of a self-study course. That is, this new feature allows students to self-certify that they have completed the requirements of a self-study course. To enable this feature, we've added a "Self-Certified Completion" flag to self-study courses. If the flag is set to "Yes" students can self-report course completion. If the flag is set to "No" course completion can only be granted if an LMS Administrator or Training Manager updates the student's course status. The default value for the "Self-Certified Completion" field is "Yes".

After enrolling in a course, if the "Self-Certified Completion" flag is set to "Yes" the student can self-report the completion of the course. To do this the student first clicks on the "Self-Certified Completion" button in the Action column of the Self-Study section on their home page, or under the Enroll tab on the Course Summary page. This will cause the Self-Certified Completion window to open. The student then electronically signs the self-certified completion by entering their Username and Password in the Self-Certified Completion window(see below).

Please note that if you are using the Impersonation feature of the LMS, only the student's Username and Password will be accepted as a self-certified electronic signature.

This enhancement request came from a manufacturer that needs to be able to track "read and signs" of technical specification documents. That is, as technical specifications are updated, engineers within the firm are required to read the update and sign-off that they have read it. To track the "read and signs", the firm will set up self-study courses with the technical specifications attached as resources. Engineers will then be enrolled in the courses with instructions to read the updated specfiications and self-certify that they have read the document.
