LatitudeLearning will help Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems AG with tracking training progress for several external and internal groups for learning their unique devices.
Today, Latitude CG is excited to welcome their new clients, Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems AG.
Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems AG is a manufacturer of medical laser systems and diagnostic devices for ophthalmology. Ziemer innovates, engineers and manufactures femtosecond lasers and biometric devices, such as the Galilei Topographer, and provides ophthalmic surgeons the tools to provide better patient outcomes for procedures like cataract surgery.
Their femtosecond lasers are known for their speed, minimal tissue damage and extreme precision, which is incredibly critical for any type of eye surgery. This tool is often use for creating flaps in LASIK (laser in situ keratomileusis). The unique incision shape is precise and minimizes tears, along with being highly prevalent in the steps of cataract surgery.
The Galilei Topographer has a lot of things to offer from precision to speed. By having two Scheimpflug cameras, they can gather data faster with average test times under three seconds, which helps maintain a patient’s attention and reduces the time for the eye(s) to dry and distort data.
While Ziemer takes pride in their equipment, Bill Ryan, Director of Clinical and Technical Support, knew that training users on how to use their tools would be critical to their success. Bill is responsible for service training, application training, showing others how to use the devices, along with discovering ways to collaborate and train users to perform successful surgeries with their equipment.
Currently, Bill trains an internal group of around 25 direct employees, along with staying in contact with a group of 250 people, along with training doctors and their staff, which easily drives his training numbers up to the thousands. Bill was searching for a learning management system that could not only compliment his training but could handle the bandwidth he needed.
One of the most important reasons they wanted to find a learning management system is so they could track who had been trained on what and when. They were previously implementing a paper-based management system. This made things extremely challenging when Bill needed to pull up various training records for any one of the multiple sized groups, which he oversees as their lead trainer.
There were several things Bill wanted to find in a learning management system. He started his process by researching providers online and slowly, his list of contenders dwindled down after reviewing further details that were provided on their websites. While consistency is important, Bill wanted to make sure he had the ability for reporting with different filters to lookup who has trained and in what areas, along with being able to upkeep with training deadlines. Additionally, having easy access to find this information quickly and efficiently was another important factor for him.
Ultimately, the reporting capabilities of LatitudeLearning is what assured Bill that they were the right partner for his needs, and they could also handle what he envisioned. One of Latitude’s employees, Regina, was also a contributing factor in his selection.
“Regina really helped me a lot with this decision,” Bill said. “Her willingness to reach back out to me and check in to see if there was anything I needed or could help me with made the final decision-making process easy for me.”
Latitude CG is excited to have Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems AG as one of their clients and cannot wait to assist Bill with setting up his new learning management system to meet his specific reporting needs and make tracking training easier for him to manage moving forward, especially as their numbers continue to grow.
