What it means?
In 2018, 14% of participants expressed that their main training program was geared towards career development - in 2020, that number dropped to 12%. Although career development is an important aspect of training, less organizations are focusing on it as their main training program initiative.
On the other hand, both skill development and performance improvement saw an increase. In 2018, the two categories combined held 54% of survey participants. In 2020, that number jumped to 72%. This indicates that the majority of training continues to focus on delivering immediate improvements in organizations and extended enterprise performance.
You can expect the increase in extended enterprise training to continue. More and more organizations are beginning to realize the benefits of including the people that sell, service and use their products in their training regime.
