The majority of users in most LMS setups are students. Users assigned the Student role can search both Course and Resource catalogs, enroll in and launch courses they are eligible to take, as well as view the Training Calendar to enroll in instructor-led course offerings. The Student-level user can also check his/her training schedule at-a-glance from the Home page, update contact and password information from the My Details tab, and access personal transcript information and printable Certificates of Completion from the History tab. It is important to remember that any LMS user who is assigned a supervisory Position Code or is set up as a Person-to-Person Manager will have “Employees” and “Approvals” tabs enabled on their homepage. These dynamic information feeds allow managerial oversight of all users assigned to the same Organization with direct reporting relationships, as well as easy management of Approval requests. Access Rights and Functionality
The table below shows, at a high level, the functional access rights each type of user can expect based on their assigned Roles. The features shown are primarily based on access to menu and navigational items. Roles may have additional restrictions in usage at the transactional level of these features. LMS Roles that are omitted from the table:
- Guest -- Guests do not have access to any of the features listed below. Because Guest users do not have the ability to search their Course Catalog, the only training materials they can access are those provided in their Home page training widgets.
- Portal Administrator -- The Portal Administrator role represents the highest level of user access rights that can be assigned in the Latitude Learning LMS, and therefore is reserved for those authorized to manage foundational setup and hosted content. Portal Administrators create and manage key records, including organization structure, courses and the accounts of all other users in their portal. These rights are only applicable at the organizational levels to which the portal administrator role is applied. For full rights to the LMS, they must have this role at the Company level.
