The LatitudeLearning Team announces the latest release of the LatitudeLearning LMS. This most recent version was released to production on Wednesday, January 18th, and focuses on a set of enhancements that includes a new 'Featured Courses' toolset, as well as enhancements to e-Commerce reports in the LMS. In addition, several break-fix items reported by our user community were addressed in this promotion.
This release (version 2.5.1.62394) includes the following set of targeted enhancements:
Featured Courses - Courses and Locations - This brand new set of functionality allows authorized administrators to assign a list of 'Featured Courses' for users tied to a specific location in the LMS. Administrators can assign the list of spotlight courses by accessing the new tools available under the 'Additional Information' area for each and every course (and course type) in the catalog. Here, the Adminstrator can assign one to many featured courses, that are displayed automatically on the home page for users logged into that location, as well as providing the student with at-a-glance enrollment status information (e.g. Scheduled, Launched, etc) for each course in the list. A different list of Featured Courses (or no courses at all) can be assigned for each Location in the LMS, providing a great deal of flexibility in spotlighting content by client or business location. In addition, authorized administrators can also add a set of organizations when viewing assignments from the context of the course in the catalog. Here multiple organizations can be assigned using the selection tools under the 'Additional Information' area. This new capability is available to all new and existing LMS customers at no additional charge.
e-Commerce Reports Enhancement – This targeted update enhanced two existing e-commerce reports, the Course Payment by Direct Bill report and the Course Payment by Credit Card report, adding two new colums to provide Course Code and e-Mail Address in the report output. Authorized administrators can access these reports to report on e-commerce activity tied to for-fee courses in the LMS under the existing Reports menu.
Help Text Enhancements - 'Mouse-Over' Help Areas – This enhancement extended the use of 'mouse-over' access to help text that is available in targeted areas of the LMS. These areas are typically denoted with the green (?) icon, and provide users in all roles with access to help/informational text without clicking and navigating to a new help page in the LMS.
Course Add / Edit - Interest List - This update re-enabled the ability for portal administrators to identify a course as available for interest list selection and processing in the LMS. For customers wishing to evaluate the demand of a given course before scheduling (what are often expensive) instructor-led Classroom or Virtual Classroom Offerings, courses in the LMS can be configured so that students have the option to be placed on the Interest List, even if the course or offering is not yet open for enrollment. Administrators can then report on demand by viewing interest counts and drill into detail by course. This functionality is enhanced throught the use of Auto-Enrollment, which allows the LMS to automatically place students into open seats on rosters that have been opened for enrollment. Following this update, the radio button options now appear under the 'Additional Information' area for each course in the catalog.
In addition to the enhancements listed above, the Latitude Learning team included the following fixes to address valuable feedback and input from our user community:
Organizations - Business Unit Add – This problem was tied to a caching issue that resulted in certain organizations not being fully available through the user interface after being added to the system. In particular, when a new Business Unit level organization was added to an LMS portal, either during initial LMS creation (as part of a new organization structure), or when added by a portal administrator through the Organization management tools (for an existing organization structure), the new Business Unit was not available for immediate selection within a number of search/filter page dropdowns. With this fix in place, caching times were significantly reduced so business units appear on more of a real-time basis once added to the system.
Course Add - Virtual Classroom – This issue was noted by portal administrators unexpectedly receiving a 'Percent Complete Required' message when attempting to add a new course that had the delivery type of 'Virtual Classroom'. With this update in place, authorized administrators can successfully add or edit virtual classroom courses, and manage online settings including completion percentage required and whether or not the virtual session should be recorded for future use.
Organization Search - Locale - This update addressed an open issue and worked to standardize the use of the term 'Locale' throughout the LMS by removing references to 'Training Area' that appeared with organization search results in various areas of the LMS. Locales are part of the training hierarchy that can be configured by authorized portal administrators to help guide student-users to the most appropriate training region based on his/her location assignment in the LMS (i.e. guide them to the closest training facility where instructor-led training is offered).
Certification - Primary Rule Edit - This update addressed an issue affecting portal administrators utilizing the Certification and Curriculum Management functions in the LMS. During the process of editing existing certification rules, the option to pick and update the 'basket' of rules was not functioning as expected, thereby restricting the ability to edit rules for the given certification. Following this update, the ability to select, clear and update basket contents is fully functional.
Certification - Certification Program - This update addressed an open issue and worked to standardize the use of 'Certification Program' (versus the legacy 'Program Year') in the LMS, thereby removing the focus on a calendar year as the limitation of the certification program period.
LMS Banner and Footer - Formatting - Targeted updates were made to address LMS footer and banner area (user information) formatting when utilizing a fixed-width stylesheet in the LMS. This issue was introduced during the recent user interface updates tied to the Quick Add User and Course enhancements bundle.
