The LatitudeLearning Team announces the latest release of the LatitudeLearning LMS. This version, released to production Monday, January 30th, focuses on enhancements to Certification Management tools, Featured Courses functionality and Virtual Classroom management, as well as extending automated course completion messaging in the LMS. In addition, several break-fix items reported by our user community were addressed in this promotion.
This release (version 2.5.1.62495) includes the following set of targeted enhancements:
Certification Management – Enhanced Administration - This set of updates enhances existing Certification and Curriculum Management capabilities, providing portal administrators with tools to manage Certification Program Years, as well as the Skill Profiles tied to the Certification Programs for a given LMS portal, which includes the ability to define and manage the set of Skill Areas and (Competency) Skill Levels directly through the user interface. Prior to these enhancements, it was necessary to engage the LatitudeLearning team to establish and update these structural elements tied to a client’s specific certification program. With these updates in place, an authorized administrator is now able to Add and Search (for editing and viewing) the set of Certification Program Years defined for a given LMS portal. This includes defining the effective start and end-date for each program year. In addition, the administrator can use these tools to define the set of available Skill Profiles for a given LMS portal, which includes defining the Skill Areas (typically organized by function or position) and the Skill Levels used to define the various competency or mastery levels for a given program.
Facilities – Online Facility – This targeted enhancement removes the ability to add or edit address information for Online facility types. Previously, the LMS would prompt administrators to populate address information for each Online facility (just like any other ‘brick and mortar’ facility in the LMS) during the Add or Edit process. This in turn was displayed to student users who were enrolled in virtual classroom courses, despite the fact that this information was irrelevant.
Featured Courses - Ordinal – This targeted update enhances the recently released set of ‘Featured Courses’ functionality, incorporating a set of fields define the ordinal (sort order) of spotlight courses published for a given location. Once a set of featured courses has been selected, the administrator can enter a numeric value for each featured course, which in turn defines the desired sort in ascending order (i.e. 0, 1, 2, …). This functionality can be accessed via the new ‘Featured Courses’ tab under a given location organization in the LMS and can be modified during add or edit for any course in the catalog.
Messaging – Course History: Automated Expiration Notice – This targeted enhancement extends the LMS’ robust messaging services to include a new, configurable transcript expiration notice. When configured for a given LMS portal, it is used to communicate (via email and on-page messaging) that a user is nearing expiration of his/her completion transcript for a given course. For example, clients might elect to have this service configured to help alert users as they approach the expiration of a required compliance course that must be renewed annually, prompting them to enroll in a course for the current year to maintain compliance. This option can implemented as an add-on feature for any new or existing LMS portal by contacting the LatitudeLearning support team.
In addition to the enhancements listed above, the Latitude Learning team incorporated the following fixes to address valuable feedback and input from our user community:
Virtual Classroom Offerings – Double-Booking and Seat Limits – This update addresses a set of open issues that were discovered following recent virtual classroom updates to the LMS. It was noted that the LMS was not validating the double-booking of virtual classrooms, and was also not enforcing seat limits as expected for virtual class offerings during setup. With this set of fixes in place, the LMS will automatically alert authorized administrators when they are attempting to overbook the number of contracted virtual classrooms for their LMS portal, as well as attempting to open more seats than they have available, based on their current virtual classroom subscription.
Courses – Offering Distribution – This update addresses an open issue noted by one of our portal administrators where the LMS was presenting an error when attempting to remove (delete) multiple Distribution rules simultaneously for a given offering. Within the LMS, authorized portal administrators can apply Distribution rules to a given offering, which can help to limit visibility of offerings based on a defined set of users, facilities and/or organizations. With this update in place, the administrator can add and edit the set of distribution rules as expected.
Location-Organization - Employees Tab – This update addresses an open issue discovered after the release of our new Featured Courses functionality, which can be accessed from each Location (organization) defined for a given LMS. It was noted that when clicking on the new Featured Courses tab, the Employees Tab for that same location was being hidden from view unexpectedly. With this update in place, all tabs are available to authorized administrators.
